Here’s a step-by-step guide to making appes (a popular South Indian dish) along with a visual description:



Ingredients:


1 cup idli or dosa batter


1 medium onions (Chopped finely)


1 green chili – finely chopped


Let alone adding one tbsp chopped coriander leaves.


1/2 tsp cumin seeds


Salt (to taste)


1 tsp oil for greasing

Steps to Make Appe:

1. Prepare the Batter:

Thus, travelling learners, take the idli or dosa batter in a bowl. You need to make sure it is of pouring consistency.

Add into the mixture finely chopped onions, green chilly, coriander leaves, cumin seeds and pinch of salt.

2. Preheat the Appe Pan:

Now heat an appe pan (paniyaram pan) over medium flame.

To grease, it is worth adding a few drops of oil in each cavity.

3. Pour the Batter:

Using a small ladle fill each cavity up to about 3/4 full with batter.


Good batter should spread evenly all across the surface.

4. Cook the Appes:

It is been exposed by covering the pan and cook on the medium flame for 2-3mins or until the bottom one is golden brown.

Take the flip of the appes using the spatula or a spoon and cook for 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown.

5. Serve Hot:

After preparation of appes scald off and serve with coconut chutney or tomato chutney.
