Sweet Daliya Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup daliya (broken wheat)
1 tbsp ghee
1/2 cup sugar or jaggery
3 tablespoons of ground milk/ 2 tablespoons of water and 1 tablespoon of ground milk.
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
8-10 olive almonds, cashews , chopped
8-10 raisins
A pinch of saffron (optional)
Instructions:
1. Empty daliya with water and wash it with water.
2. I took half cup of ghee and heated it in a pan, and roasted the daliya until it turns golden brown and gives a good aroma.
3. Pour milk (or water and milk) and allow it to boil slightly. Do from time to time to reduce formation of lumps on the mixture.
4. After daliya becomes tender (about around 15-20 minutes) you can add sugar or jaggery and then stir well.
5. Additionally, add powder of cardamom, chopped nuts, raisins and mix saffron.
6. Stir for further another 2-3 minutes until the sugar or jaggery melted.
7. It can also be eaten as a dessert or even taken as breakfast when is served warm.
